This summer marked significant milestones for Newcleo, highlighting its continued growth and impact in the global nuclear sector. Below are key developments from the company's journey over the past few months:
Growth and Recognition in France and Italy
Newcleo at Silex Tower, Lyon: The company’s name was prominently displayed on the iconic Silex Tower in Lyon’s Part Dieu business district, symbolizing its expansion to over 800 employees.
PHYSOR 2026 Hosting Announcement: Newcleo, alongside Politecnico di Torino, will co-host PHYSOR 2026, underscoring its expertise in nuclear physics and its role in bringing together top minds in the industry.
French Nuclear Hearings and Certification Progress
France 2030 Hearings: The company presented its vision for SMR (Small Modular Reactors) and AMR (Advanced Modular Reactors) technologies during the France 2030 hearings, contributing to a report that will shape future nuclear energy policy.
ISO 19443:2018 Certification in France: Step one of this certification was completed, emphasizing Newcleo’s leadership in nuclear safety standards and operational excellence.
Expansion in Slovakia
Establishment of Newcleo SRO: Newcleo established a subsidiary in Slovakia and signed an agreement with VUJE to collaborate on AMRs and fuel cycle solutions. This partnership will explore reusing spent nuclear fuel and advancing LFR (Lead-cooled Fast Reactor) technology.
Developments in the UK
Launch of Great British Energy (GBE): In July, the UK saw the creation of GBE, a significant step toward decarbonization. Newcleo is poised to play a role in this initiative, which is expected to create opportunities for nuclear and renewable energy development, along with Great British Nuclear (GBN).
Agreement with Saipem for offshore
Newcleo has signed a collaboration agreement with Saipem to study the offshore application of the technology for the production of nuclear energy. This is the first agreement between European companies to study these applications and the opportunity to collaborate with such a recognised global leader in the engineering and construction of these large projects shows that Newcleo is the go-to company for SMRs in Europe.
